Ramble BOM February
Join Carole Frye, our expert instructor, for a guided class on the Ramble Quilt. Carole has been taking detailed notes while piecing our store sample and has even consulted with the designer to clarify some of the more unconventional steps. She is ready to share all her cutting and piecing tips to help you navigate this project.
In each class, Carole will provide a demonstration and guide you as you begin each round of the month, ensuring you have the confidence to finish the project. If you fall behind, don’t worry as Carole will offer catch-up assistance in future sessions to ensure every quilt top is completed!
Serger Technique Class: Making a T-Shirt
Serger Technique Class: Making a T-Shirt
If your serger intimidates you more than it should, this class is your gentle, slightly sassy intervention. We’ll walk through all the core knit-sewing techniques you need to make a professional-looking T-shirt—without actually sewing the whole garment. Think of it as T-shirt boot camp, but without the sweat.
You’ll practice threading (deep breaths, you can do this), tension balancing, clean seam construction, finishing edges, hemming knits without warping them, mastering differential feed, and creating smooth neckbands and curves. We’ll make sample pieces together so you can focus on the skills—not on finishing a project before the clock runs out.
By the end, you’ll have a tidy little library of technique samples, the knowledge to tackle knit garments with confidence, and the smug satisfaction of finally understanding what all those dials and knobs actually do. Perfect for serger beginners, knit-fabric enthusiasts, and anyone who wants their handmade shirts to stop looking like they survived a small disaster.

Beginner Sewing: The Canvas Tote With a Zipper (Yes, You Can Do the Zipper)
Start your sewing journey with the project every sewist secretly judges themselves by: the classic canvas tote—with a zipper that won’t bite, fight, or ruin your day. In this beginner-friendly class, we’ll walk through the basics of machine sewing, sturdy construction, clean lining, and the mysterious art of installing a zipper without needing a beverage break. You’ll stitch up a durable, everyday tote perfect for errands, books, beach days, yarn hauls, project bags, or pretending you have your life together. The clean design shows off your fabric choices, and the zipper keeps everything safely contained—because gravity is rude and things do fall out.By the end, you’ll leave with a polished, practical bag you’ll actually use (and definitely brag about), plus the confidence that comes from conquering your first “real” sewing project. Perfect for total beginners, returning sewists, and anyone who wants a stylish tote that says, “I made this—and no, I won’t make you one.”

You’ll learn the foundational stitches, how to read simple patterns, and why everyone who crochets inevitably becomes a yarn collector. (It’s called self-care. We support it.) By the end, you’ll leave with a small finished piece, a brand-new superpower, and the smug satisfaction of saying, “Oh this? I made it.” Perfect for total beginners, returning crafters, and anyone who wants a relaxing skill that pairs beautifully with tea, TV, and ignoring your responsibilities.
