Beginning Sewing: Three Saturdays 1pm to 3pm

Want to actually enjoy learning to sew? If you’re after a fun, no-nonsense intro that covers the sewing basics and dips your toes into dressmaking, this course is your new best friend. We’ll get you feeling confident, inspired, and itching to tackle more projects in no time.

Our Easy Pyjamas/Scrub Bottoms class is the perfect starter—whether you’ve never touched a sewing machine or you already know your bobbin from your buttonhole. You’ll learn the essentials, then put them into action by making your very own pair of fabulous pyjama bottoms (long or short, for women and men). Cozy, practical, and handmade by you — what’s not to love?

No experience? No problem. Jump in as a total newbie or join us after another beginner class. Fair warning: this is an action-packed sewing day! But don’t stress—the class is small, so you’ll get plenty of one-on-one help, plus the bonus of meeting fellow sewists to chat and laugh with along the way.

What you’ll walk away knowing:
- How to set up and thread your sewing machine
- How to sew straight and curved seams
- How to troubleshoot machine hiccups
- How to decode a commercial sewing pattern
- How to measure yourself properly
- How to choose the right size and tweak fit
- How to pin, cut, and sew your fabric
- How to finish seams, add elastic, and stitch hems
By the end, you’ll not only have a pair of pj bottoms/scrubs/shorts… you’ll also have the skills to keep sewing more.
