Tara Faughnan has created a stunning new Block of the Month, featuring a gorgeous array of fresh Artisan Cotton colors.

The Ramble Block of the Month is Tara's modern take on a traditional medallion quilt, with each row inspired by the intricate beauty of embroidered ribbon.

The vibrant, flowing design explores techniques such as strip piecing, curves, and a no-tear method for paper piecing. It is a skill-building journey for beginners and a creative playground for experienced quilters.

The Fabric

Artisan Cotton is a stunning cross-weave fabric, available in rich jewel tones and versatile neutrals. With 38 new additions, you now have 90 vibrant colors to choose from--perfect for bringing your creative vision to life!

Program Details

The Ramble Quilt BOM participants will receive a total of 18.24 yards of fabric (40 different colors). the Ramble pattern including tips and videos from Tara Faughnan which will be posted each month starting in February. Sew Santa Barbara’s Ramble participants will receive their fabric in 4 packages of fabric starting in January, and then in April, July, and October. This will allow participants to start sewing future strips using the same rows repeated at a later time. Please note that the backing and batting is not included..

Included with the pattern will be access to video tutorials made available each month available on the Thinkific learning platform. All participants will be able to create an account and access the video content there. They will include tips, tricks and technique demos.

Here’s the monthly breakdown of projects:

  • Month 1 (February 2026): Center

  • Month 2 (March): On-Point Square rows

  • Month 3 (April): Checkerboard rows

  • Month 4 (May): 9-Patch rows

  • Month 5 (June): Big X rows

  • Month 6 (July): Half Square Triangle rows

  • Month 7 (August): Little Stars rows

  • Month 8 (September): Little X rows

  • Month 9 (October): Hourglass row

  • Month 10 (November): Polygon row

  • Month 11 (December): Flowers row

  • Month 12 (January 2027): Cones row and Finishing!

Ramble BOM Class

Every first Saturday of the month (more or less - exact dates to come) from 10am to 12noon, join together with fellow Ramble participants watching Carole Frye show you the latest row and then set about re-creating what you’ve just learned so that, by the time you leave, you’ll have the confidence to tackle the rest on your own. If you’ve missed a class or fallen behind, Carole will help bring you back up to speed.
